Skewed Epaulette Denim Jacket

A rework of the denim jacket through displacement. Cut from mid-weight washed denim, the piece centres on an off-axis front closure—buttons drifting across the body rather than following a fixed line, subtly destabilising a familiar silhouette.

Panel lines trace the torso with a sculptural logic, curving through the chest and shoulder to reshape proportion. A stepped chest pocket echoes the asymmetry, while epaulettes introduce a restrained military reference—less authority, more residue.

The wash sits in a worn gradient: faded mid-tones breaking through deeper indigo, as if exposed unevenly over time. Abrasions at the sleeves and hem are not decorative but cumulative—fray as record, not effect.

Finished with metal snap buttons and a slightly cropped, boxy cut that holds structure without stiffness.

Denim interrupted, re-aligned, and left intentionally unresolved.

Styling notes
Wear closed to emphasise the skewed front, or open to collapse the structure. Works against volume—wide trousers, loose tailoring—where the cropped length sharpens the silhouette.

Hand wash recommended at temperatures below 30°C. If machine washing, use a gentle or delicates cycle. Do not bleach or use harsh detergents. Do not wring or scrub aggressively. Do not tumble dry.
