This season, the Fujian-based label Organic Emotion turns toward Birdman (2014) as psychological atmosphere, a study of collapse, ego, performance, and the longing to rupture the structures that contain the self.
Through the collection, the designer attempts to construct an image of the self escaping the city and returning to something more instinctive and untamed. Using shifting graphics and evolving linear forms, the figure of the “birdman” is abstracted beyond literal representation and freed from traditional constraints.
Graphics dissolve into abstraction, lines shift and distort, silhouettes loosen their adherence to fixed form. The “birdman” emerges as sensation, a recurring impulse toward flight, dislocation, and psychic escape.
The collection encourages a temporary departure from the civility and order of everyday life in a return to rawness, emotion, and instinct.
