A reworking of the wide leg trouser through texture, weight, and release.
Corduroy carries a different lineage to denim — a fabric defined by its raised wale structure, historically associated with workwear and colder climates. Its ribbed surface was engineered for durability and insulation, trapping warmth while maintaining flexibility across movement. Over time, it moved between labour and leisure, retaining its tactile identity while shifting context.
This piece draws from that material history.
Cut high at the waist, the trouser anchors through the upper block before releasing into a full, uninterrupted leg. The silhouette extends downward without taper — a continuous column shaped through weight rather than structure.
The corduroy is rendered in a washed black tone, with subtle fading through the thigh and knee. The directional nap of the fabric interacts with light, creating tonal variation as the wearer moves — a surface that shifts rather than remains fixed.
Softened through finishing, the fabric holds structure without rigidity. The wale adds depth without excess, allowing the garment to remain minimal while carrying texture.
Construction is reduced to essentials. A clean waistband and button closure stabilise the form, while the leg carries the visual emphasis — long, wide, and uninterrupted.
What begins as a fabric of insulation becomes something else:
a study in surface, depth, and controlled movement.
