Haussmann Pleat Trousers

A synthesis of mid-century sartorial volume and modern technical fluidity, these trousers utilise historical pattern-making techniques to redefine the urban silhouette. The design is centred around a deep double-inverted pleat system, a construction method favoured in 1950s bespoke tailoring to create a sharp vertical line while hiding significant fabric volume. This allows the trouser to transition from a structured high-waist to a wide, sweeping leg without bunching.

Engineered with a darted rear yoke for a contoured fit and finished with an internal French-seam construction, these trousers offer a clean, "architectural" drape that moves with the wearer, a  bridge between heritage and contemporary urban wardrobe.

Named in reference to the urban transformation of Paris under Georges-Eugène Haussmann, these trousers mirror the architectural precision and calculated volume of the city’s iconic 19th-century limestone facades.

Baron Georges-Eugène Haussmann (1809–1891), the French official chosen by Emperor Napoleon III to carry out a massive urban renewal program in Paris between 1853 and 1870. Haussmann is credited with transforming Paris from a congested, medieval city into a modern capital.

Haussmann's urban renewal modernised Paris by replacing cramped medieval streets with wide, straight boulevards to improve circulation and security, enforcing strict aesthetic uniformity across building designs, and implementing comprehensive infrastructure, including advanced sewer systems and expansive public green spaces.

Haussmann's work represents the birth of the modern city—where mathematical order meets aesthetic elegance.

Care
Machine wash cold (30°C) inside out. Use a laundry bag to protect the pleats from friction.

Do not use bleach or optical brighteners.

Line dry in the shade.

Do not tumble dry, as high heat can damage the synthetic fibers and alter the drape. Steam vertically to refresh the volume; if ironing, use a cool setting (max 110°C) with a pressing cloth to prevent fabric shine.
