Gold Rush Hook Closure Shirt

Cut from a breathable lyocell-blend fabric (81% lyocell, 10% linen, 9% viscose), the shirt is light, fluid, and designed for breathability. The surface falls cleanly through a relaxed, boxy silhouette.

The name nods to the California (1848) and Australian (1850s) gold rush periods, when Chinese migrants moved across continents in search of opportunity. They brought with them systems of dress suited to travel and climate — lightweight, adaptable, and practical.

That history also sits alongside well-documented exclusion and discrimination on the goldfields. The reference here is kept light-touch — acknowledging the broader context of movement and migration, rather than retelling it directly.

The design centres on traditional hook closures, drawn from Chinese garment construction — precise, minimal, and functional. A single chest patch pocket and adjustable rolled sleeves keep the structure grounded and easy to wear.
