Albers Plane Constriction Toile Jacket

Albers Plane Constriction Toile Jacket

$310.00 AUD
Size

Cut from a high-weight cotton twill selected for its density and structural stability, the Albers Plane Construction Toile Jacket maintains a defined silhouette while allowing for sustained wear over time.

The composition is reminiscent of a technique associated with the Bauhaus weaving workshops, particularly the work of Anni Albers, where structure is articulated through the relation of planes. Here, darker and lighter fields operate not as contrast, but as a way of mapping construction. A curved seam intersects the waist, while a vertical back insertion reinforces the sense of segmentation.

The jacket is assembled from discrete panels, organised through tonal contrast. Sections are joined along irregular seam paths, with raw edges and retained basting points left visible. These elements reference the toile stage of garment development, where construction remains provisional and subject to adjustment.

The palette operates within a compressed tonal range. Deep black and muted charcoal are used to articulate adjacent planes, allowing transitions to register as shifts in density rather than contrast.

Controlled through the shoulders, with a straight fall through the body. Centre-front zip closure.
